n Mexico City, rush hour now lasts 15 hours, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., according to a study carried out by the Mario Molina Center for Strategic Studies on Energy and the Environment and several other organizations.

    I was in Mexico City in June during the World Cup finals. One afternoon it took over an hour to go around three sides of the Zocolo by van. To be fair, it might have taken quite a while to walk the same distance–the throng was incredible.

    On the other hand, we had ample time to watch the shamans ritually cleansing clients, hucksters selling things, the crowd massing up to watch the game on the giant plasma TV–it was an amazing scene.
