We’re screwed.
WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge has ordered a small border city in Texas to temporarily turn over its land to the federal government so it can begin to build a border fence.U.S. District Judge Alia Moses Ludlum ordered the city of Eagle Pass, on the border about 100 miles southwest of San Antonio, to “surrender” 233 acres of city-owned land. The Justice Department sued the city for access to the land.
The Homeland Security Department is trying to build 370 miles of border fence by the end of the year. A law signed by President Bush and supported by both of Texas’ U.S. senators mandated a total of 700 miles of fence along the border. The government had warned the city, which opposes the fence, it would sue under eminent domain laws to secure access to the property, declaring it is “taking” the property for 180 days.
The feeling inWashington — and around the country — is that people living on the border don’t deserve the same rights as the rest of the country. Just because some dickhead from Michigan gets the heebie-jeebies when he meets some guy from Michaocán, poor people in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona are going to have to… oh… emigrate. And most of us habla español. But aren’t looking forward to peonage in some Nebraska packing plant.
This is an outrage, but as long as it gives warm fuzzies to people who live far away from this area, the theft will continue. Just a reminder that both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton voted for the construction of the Great Wall of America™.

I would think that every true re-blooded American citizen would have no problem, or even appreciate the fact, that the federal government has finally gotten off their collective asses and are doing something to secure our southern border. But, that’s only the feeling of one true red-blooded American citizen. Of coarse, the fence will not stop all illegal immigration, but if it slows the flow by even 50%, it is well worth the effort. Your reference to the Great Wall is point on. That wall did what it was constructed to do for hundreds of years. Besides, fences make for good neighbors.
You’re repeating yourself … word for word… from your last comment. Why would we “red blooded Americans” sell ourselves into bondage, or want government agents having control of our movements. Wouldn’t you be happier living somewhere like North Korea?
The American government has been for decades trying to stop the growth of Hispanics in America. It looks like they finally found a way to make people forget their ancestors where immigrants also. Since 9/11 the American government has been scaring us citizens with the threat of that terrible day repeating. Well I say I would gladly accept death then lose the rights and freedoms that where fought for and that many immigrants died for. When will people stop using the fact that they where born here as a justification of the atrocities that are being forced upon anyone that wasn’t lucky enough to ride the boat with Christopher Columbus. Are we not a advance society? A fence is the best idea that we can come up with? Wake people before it is to late!
