No… Alfalfa was not a Mexican. This kid grew up to be one of the most important people in 20th century Mexico, and still is one of the most powerful individuals in the country, though there are some who never mention his name (and that’s a clue).
Owwwww! I think he was only about three when he did that (though a three-year old handling a rifle is a little hard to believe), so it has to be considered an accident. Still, in that first photo, he looks like he’s having mug shots taken after being arrested for molesting puppies or beating up old nuns or something like that.
I’ve always wondered whether something else didn’t happen, it is just was easier to give out that story… would the police or public ministry have investigated an “accident” in a wealthy family where the culprit was a small child? I don’t think so. Interestingly enough AMLO was also involved in a fatal accidental shooting when he was a minor. Although he was a teenager when his brother accidentally shot himself with a pistol in the family store. His mother arranged for him to be sent off for schooling to get him out of the house, which in a way launched his career.

“Carlos, when asked what had happened, said, ‘I killed her with one shot. I m a hero,’ the daily El Universal said at the time.

Dicen que los niños y los borrachos, son los únicos que dicen la verdad.
