Guadalupe – Tres Reyes

15 December 2007

I had a student once explain to me why foreign English teachers never had any students in December.  With the Virgin of Guadalupe Day on December 12, it really isn’t worth thinking about anything new (like English irregular verbs), not with Christmas (December 12) and Tres Reyes (January 6) in the offing.

It might as well be one looooong holiday.

I AM thinking about other things — finishing my book manuscript, and haven’t had time over the weekend to read anything else.  Back… I hope… Monday or Tuesday.

Here in Puerto Rico partying begins the day before Thanksgiving and continues until the day after San Valentin {Feb. 14} interrupted only by occasional pretend work efforts that would be best skipped altogether. July is also a full on party month.
The Fiesta Life is alive and well here. I just got the 2008 Holiday Plastic laminate card from Banco Popular. If you are an employer, you must have this card so the surprise holidays don’t sneak up on you and you go in to work but none of the workers are there! Up next: 25 Dic, Navidad, 1 Ene, Ano Nuevo {sorry, no virgula}, 6 Ene, Dia de Reyes, 14 Ene, Eugenio Maria de Hostos, 21 Ene MLK, 18 Feb, Jorge Washington.
Good ol’ Jorge El Dormilon. He apparently slept everywhere and was a big success anyway. Admirable.
