Chutzpah on the Amazon
Quotation of the week:
“We can’t let little countries screw around with big companies like this—companies that have made big investments around the world.”
An unnamed Chevron lobbyist, regarding the 16 billion dollar fines levied by Ecuadorian courts against Chevron for polluting the Amazon River. Chevron wants the Bush administration to “punish” Ecuador for the court ruling.

More people die when fuel prices go up due to the affect of food prices. The dammages to the Amazon are almost nill when compared to the human population. South America is going socialist so fast that people are thinking this is a good thing. It is not, more poor people will exist when economic freedom is taken away. Chevron’s profit margin will be affected by such high fines. Guess who is really going to pay these fines? You, me, and the people of Ecuador. While I hate real polution, I think that excessive fines are a lot worse. It is important to rememer that the developing world is affected far more by these fines than Chevron ever will be. I am pro-human first and pro-environment second. The planet is fine, it will last after we are long gone.
