Acknowledging that Arizona has developed a serious image problem because of its tough new immigration law, Gov. Jan Brewer and tourism-industry leaders said Thursday that they will launch a new effort to stanch the flow of lost trade and convention business in the state.

The Mex Files 
There was a comment by “Tio Foncho” (the email address is “@mexicomail” but the server is in California) that was just links four pieces, none less than six years old, posted on the white supremacist website “Vdare.com”.
I don’t link to Vdare.com, not just because it’s an overtly white supremacist publication from a “hate group”, but because it’s a highly unreliable source and the author at one point scrubbed his posts on that site.
Three of the four posts dealt with abuses that were illegal at the time, and condemned as such by Mexican media, the Church and others. And immigration policy was changed two years ago to make those abuses even less likely today. If anything, they show that “racial profiling” (which the author somehow tried to make these incidents out to be) leads to abuses… which has really very little to do with media and consumer reaction to policies in the state of Arizona.
The other carped that several U.S. citizens had been deported after they entered Mexico to take part in a demonstration. The details were left out and — given the reputation of the author and the publication — I wouldn’t have given them any credence to the report, even back in 2002 when it was written.
And, it goes without saying, this is my site, and I print what I want to. Freedom of press belongs to those who own the press… or in our days, the domain name. If you don’t like it, get your own site.
