Water, water… not quite everywhere

In may I was in Madera, Chihuahua speaking with members of the ejido there that have agreed to curtail grazing and logging and to let ecotourism have a go. We saw that some of the streams were making some recovery after years of grazing caused erosion, but the ecotourism is not as successful as the various universities told them it would be, and I think we’re headed for full decline.
As the lake beds are drained for ag (see Babicora), the Mennonites strip the water tables, and as ejidos abuse stream beds, Northern Mexico is heading for the same sort of water crisis that Central Mexico is headed for.
