Update on San Diego Beating/Tasing…

1 June 2010

From Maggie’s Madness:

Just a few moments ago, Frontera announced that Anastasio Hernandez Rojas died due to complications as a result of the beating he received from US Border Patrol Agents Friday night.

…Anastasio had lived in the United States although not legally, for twenty six years and was the father of five children. He had been deported following a traffic violation which occurred a week ago.

… homicide detectives from San Diego Police are investigating the beating and the Mexican Consulate has issued a statement condemning the beating. … people in Tijuana and the northern areas are angry.

As I predicted, I did get a comment trying to justify the action by the Border Patrol. And we know why the late Mr. Hernandez was so distraught about his deportation. He had a family to support.

Condolences to the family, of course, but one hopes for justice.

Actually you predicted you would get a comment about the treatment of Guatemalans in Mexico. Your wording is still there, in case you forgot already. It reads like this:

“I’ll be getting comments from the people who bring up illegal attacks on Guatemalan migrants in Mexico as if it’s relevant to a death in legal custody for a regulatory offense in the United States.”

What you got was a comment that corrected all the factual errors in your first report from Maggie, which you later substantiated in your update. You also were told of an incident where ICE went to the aid of an illegal and he tried to kill them. I don’t see anything about Guatemalans, do you?

Marjorie Drake’s husband works for ICE at the San Ysidro port of entry. For all we know, he was one of the people who piled on that poor soul who died. For some strange reason, in all of her and your posts about this incident over the last few days, not once was this little fact mentioned. Must have been overlooked in all the excitement and rush to find someone to blame and punish?

I don’t see where Ms. Drakes’ spouse works as relevant to posts mentioning media reports on a specific incident involving the Border Patrol. With no claims of “insider information”, would it have been relevant. What “all the posts” over the “last few days” (one, and an update within 24 hours?) or “rush to judgment” is Ms. Duke talking about? She is the one attempting to blame an individual, and rather clumsily attempting — for some strange reason — to blame someone.

Okay Ms. Duke, you are a liar. My husband works for DHS Bureau of Customs and Border Protection US Border Patrol San Diego Sector. Prior to that he worked for DOD. This is no deep dark secret, I have publically said this many times over the past at least five years blogging and on different sites.

    Not ICE.

And what difference does it make anyway? Plenty of people who work for DHS are distressed over this event, and DHS has even blasted 1070.

Now if you have anything you want to say to me, say it to my face you cunt liar.

    Sorry for swearing Richard.

No fuckin’ problem. As Mark Twain suggested, “When angry, count to ten. When very angry, swear!”

LMAO Richard. You know really, the wanna be anarchists would really like everyone to believe that every facet of the US is wretched, and they are wrong.

Still, they are consumed with hate and anger and would like for nothing better than to cause systems disruptions, at their whim.

Especially when they have warrants out for their arrest in the United States , gosh I guess that’s a pretty big ax to grind.

heehee, later I have to get back to work.

And by god, we would do it again.

Well, it looks like good ol’ tacho was a meth tweaker:

“The cause of death was determined to be a heart attack, with methamphetamine abuse and hypertension listed as contributing factors.”

That sure would explain his erratic behavior and why it would take a lot of CBP’s to subdue him. People on meth feel no pain and have superhuman strength. It also explains why a man in his 30’s would die of a heart attack.

No, the cause of death was the beating according to the forensic examiner (Proceso, 2 de junio de 2010). Meth use and high blood pressure were contributing factors to Hernandez’ state of health, which is a different matter. I had an 80-ish year old friend in Houston who died after a beating. The fact that he had terminal cancer and was in poor heath and probably would have survived the beating otherwise didn’t make it any less of a homicide.

No Rich, you have that wrong. The cause of death is listed on the coroner’s report. Anoxic encephalopathy due to: Resuscitated cardiac arrest due to: Acute myocardial infarct “. You should know better by now to rely upon anything printed in a Mexican newspaper. You can read the report here:

        http://www.co.san-diego.ca.us/me/press/press.html

Ok, manner of death. But this is like the famous Texas death certificate after a poker player was shot dead in Alpine in the 1930s. The “cause of death” was heart blockage(whatever the medical term is for that) and a “contributing condition “straight flush beats a full house”.

The San Diego Coroner just changed the wording of his report, I presume from updated forensic information. Where before it said a contributing factor was “methamphetamine abuse,” that wording has now been changed to indicate that a direct cause of death was also “”acute methamphetamine intoxication.”

In other words, Hernandez would have probably died even if the Border Patrol was caressing him and giving him a foot massage.

Ya know, sometimes the only exercise some people get is jumping at conclusions.
